Barry Adler, DVM

Dr. Adler is a resident of Woodbridge Township and has lived and or worked here most of his life. He graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science in 1972. He graduated from the Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977 and also received a Master of Science degree in reproductive physiology. In 1978, he and Dr. Ira Niedweske, a veterinary school classmate, opened the Iselin Veterinary Hospital. They then started the Woodbridge Veterinary Group in 1982.
Dr. Adler has served as the secretary of the Metropolitan NJ Veterinary Medical Association, the president of the Central Jersey Veterinary Emergency Service, and as co-chairman of the continuing education programs for the Atlantic Coast Veterinary Conference. He presently serves on the Governor's Veterinary Medical Education Advisory Committee and is the past chairman of the legislative committee of the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Adler has received the Veterinarian of the Year award from the Metropolitan NJ Veterinary Medical Association and an Outstanding Service Award from the Freeholders of Essex County for the work done with the Turtle Back Zoo. Dr. Adler is past president of the NJVMA, and his interests include soft tissue & orthopedics, and avian medicine.
